Recession of the gum line makes teeth look long and may cause sensitivity to hot and cold. By grafting tissue from the roof of your mouth to the site where the gum has receded, we are able to protect the exposed root. This can decrease the chance of decay, additional wear and minimize sensitivity.
The causes of recession are varied from aggresive tooth brushing,to aging, to periodontal diesease. Following a clinical examination, Dr. McFarland can suggest the best course of treatment to deal with your individual situation and where grafts may be needed to control the loss of soft tissue.
